Outdoor Track

Photobucket

I shot two days of the 2009 NCAA National Track Championship a few weekends ago in Fayetteville, and of all the sports I got to shoot last year, I kinda think this was my favorite.  So many different events.... it all went so fast..... and all blew my mind.  I think I did pretty good for my first time out.

I don't know how pole vaulting is possible, even after watching it 50 times in a row.

Steeplechase. Photographers are just waiting for someone to wipe out.

As if I didn't have enough to think about while I was there...
don't get hit with a javelin, hammer or shot-put, don't walk across the track when runners are coming, don't get in other photographer's way, don't get a sunburn...... vest... what vest?
.......... I decided to carry my holga around and shoot my new Fayetteville photographer friends all tracked out.  Most of them shoot for different newspapers and publications up in NWA.  I have always wanted to shoot for a newspaper but have never had the chance.  I think getting different assignments everyday would be challenging and rewarding, allowing you to do a better job everyday than the day before.  I can feel this way because I've never had that job.

So here is Andy, Beth, Wes, Marc, Will, me, Zac, Jason, and Rich.

Special thanks to Rich Clarkson for humoring me and my silly toy camera.

Preggers

Photos of my pregnant friend Kerry.

She is a photographer too and had lots of good ideas for me to steal.  You can also see her in this month's Soiree Magazine as one of Arkansas' "Women to Watch", for opening Kavanaugh Eye with her husband, Dr. Brian Guice.  I've known Brian and Kerry since high school and am super proud of them for opening their own business together.  They are a sweet couple and really deserve the best.  I can't wait to meet Violet!
