It has been a few weeks since I've updated our blog, and it seems a lot has happened since the wildflowers post. Mark's parents came to visit us on the 19th and we all drove down to Green Mountain Falls, near Colorado Springs, and stayed in a cabin that their family shares. It was nice to finally see the place Mark and his Dad and Brother called to Big Foot when they were younger. After one night at the cabin, Mark and I went into Colo Sprgs and walked around the Garden of the Gods. We are lucky to have seen so many beautiful rock formations this summer. We stayed one night in Colo Sprgs, hung out with my Brother and saw the new Batman, and the next day I set off for Arkansas to attend my good friend from high school, Mary Katherine's wedding reception and brunch. It felt great to be home for a few days in the comfort of my Mom's house and in the company of old, familiar friends. On my way back here, I stopped at the Denver airport and picked up our backpacking friend Trey, who went back country hiking and camping on his own for three days along the Continental Divide. And on Monday, our friend Rhett flew in for a week, so right now we have a full house. Anyone who knows me well, knows I need my alone time, so this week has been a real challenge for me in the hostess department (Mark and I haven't been by ourselves since July 18th!) This is our last month before we come home to Arkansas and get back to the real world, so I am very much looking forward to our last two weeks here with no visitors and lots of relaxing. I would post some pictures from the last few weeks but there are so many, I wouldn't even know where to start.
Today is my Mom's birthday. She is the most amazing person I know. She is smart, successful, and really fun to hang out with at the bar. She has taken care of me through so much more than anyone will ever know. I love her very much.
Happy birthday Mom, I love you!
